Thanks to Michael for taking time to respond to my, uhh, spirited attack on a slogan he posts at his MySpace. You can see his response here and my response-response is posted below. He also kindly (I had to quickly edit out my vociferous comments after reading his words!) posted about the discussion. I know this is a crazy lot of talk about the issue. Somehow, in case you didn’t notice, the question sort of ‘got in my craw’. I hope my case below has some merit and some may care to read and even interact.
Doug, whose fault it is that I got into this in the first place (just kidding), has posted a query seeking responses as well.
Interesting discussion. I hope there is hope for learning on both sides and that I am not too obtuse and wordy to see something new and helpful.
As to excerpts, for which all await with ‘bated breath: If peace means, in the classical and biblical sense “cessation of warfare”, then surely you could concede that killing causes war to cease (thus producing peace). The issue is about time within TIME. I think we share a worldview that says there will never be real peace until some understanding of Christ’s return, etc. But if that is the definition of peace, we are all wasting our bandwidth [in the specific purpose of this discussion].
